Tender Offer
A company-organized buyback or share purchase
An organized event where a company or investor offers to buy shares from holders.
A tender offer is a formal invitation to shareholders to sell some of their shares at a stated price during a set window.
Private companies use them to give employees and early investors liquidity without going public. The buyer may be the company itself or an outside investor.
Tender offers often set a price that reflects a recent valuation, and the company usually controls who can participate and how much they can sell.
