Supabase
Supabase provides a hosted Postgres database with authentication, storage and APIs, used by developers and AI app builders to launch backends quickly.
The Company
Supabase was founded in 2020 by Paul Copplestone and Ant Wilson as an open-source alternative to Firebase built on Postgres. It bundles a database with authentication, file storage and APIs, and has become a common backend for apps built with AI coding tools.
In June 2026 Supabase raised a $500 million Series F led by GIC at a $10.5 billion valuation, roughly double the $5 billion it reached in its October 2025 Series E. The company reports more than 250,000 customers, 9 million developers and a 600% year-over-year increase in databases.
Why It Matters
Supabase is one of the clearest beneficiaries of AI-assisted coding, and a read-through for how much infrastructure value flows to the tools behind vibe-coded apps.
