Skild AI
Skild AI develops general-purpose robotics foundation models designed to run across different robot bodies without extensive retraining.
The Company
Skild AI was founded in 2023 by robotics researchers Deepak Pathak and Abhinav Gupta. Rather than building its own robots, it develops foundation models and software that can be retrofitted to different machines and tasks, aiming to be a shared intelligence layer for the robotics industry.
In January 2026 Skild AI raised a $1.4 billion Series C led by SoftBank, with Nvidia and Macquarie participating, at a valuation above $14 billion. That was roughly triple the $4.5 billion valuation it reached in the summer of 2025, and brought total funding above $2 billion.
Why It Matters
Skild AI is one of the largest bets that robotics will follow the AI-model playbook, with one general model serving many machines, and a read-through for the humanoid and industrial robot boom.
