The Company
Runway was founded in 2018 by Cristóbal Valenzuela, Anastasis Germanidis and Alejandro Matamala. Its Gen series of models generate and edit video from text and images, and it released its first world model in December 2025.
In February 2026 Runway raised a $315 million Series E led by General Atlantic, with Nvidia, Fidelity, Adobe Ventures and AMD Ventures participating, at a $5.3 billion valuation, nearly double its previous round.
