COMPANY INTELLIGENCE
Reliance Jio
Reliance Jio is India’s largest telecom network and the core of Jio Platforms, Reliance Industries’ connectivity and digital-services business. It is using that base to expand from mobile access into home broadband, enterprise, cloud, media, and AI-enabled services.
The Company
Jio disrupted India’s mobile market by pairing a nationwide all-IP network with aggressive pricing and inexpensive devices. It rapidly became the country’s largest telecom operator and was subsequently combined with Reliance’s digital assets inside Jio Platforms.
The company is now pursuing a broader digital-services strategy. Reliance says the business served more than 524 million customers at March 2026, connected more than 27 million homes, and carried 241 exabytes of data traffic during FY2026. The next phase of the story is whether Jio can convert connectivity scale into higher-value enterprise, cloud, media, and consumer-service revenue.
Why It Matters
Jio is a key proxy for India’s digital infrastructure build-out. Its scale creates a distribution channel for private companies in devices, consumer internet, payments, cloud, enterprise software, logistics, media, and AI targeting the Indian market.
