Monzo
Monzo is a UK-licensed digital bank offering current accounts, savings, loans and business banking through its app.
The Company
Monzo was founded in London in 2015 and has grown into one of the UK's largest digital banks, with 15.2 million customers. Its latest annual results showed revenue of £1.7 billion, up 39%, and statutory pre-tax profit of £87.3 million. Diana Layfield became CEO in October 2025.
Monzo was last valued at £4.5 billion in an October 2024 employee share sale. In September 2026 Sky News and Bloomberg reported that Brazil's Nubank was in talks to buy Monzo for £8–10 billion, roughly double that valuation.
Why It Matters
Monzo is the UK's most prominent fintech, and a Nubank deal would be one of the largest fintech acquisitions and a benchmark for neobank valuations.
