The Company

Flipkart operates an Indian online marketplace and a broader consumer-internet portfolio that includes Myntra, Shopsy and Cleartrip. Walmart is its controlling shareholder, while Google joined the company's 2024 financing as a minority investor.

Reuters reported that Google's $350 million investment formed part of an approximately $1 billion round that valued Flipkart at $37 billion. Flipkart confirmed Google's investment and cloud collaboration, but did not publicly confirm the valuation.

Why It Matters

Flipkart is a central private-market read-through on Indian digital consumption and the economics of competing with global and domestic commerce platforms. Its eventual route to public markets will depend on market share, logistics efficiency and whether adjacent businesses strengthen the core marketplace.
