Abridge
Abridge provides ambient AI documentation that listens to clinical conversations and drafts notes inside electronic health records.
The Company
Abridge was founded in 2018 by cardiologist Dr. Shiv Rao. Its software listens to conversations between clinicians and patients and drafts clinical notes directly in electronic health records, reducing documentation time for doctors.
Abridge raised a $300 million Series E led by Andreessen Horowitz in June 2025, with Khosla Ventures participating, and says more than 150 large U.S. health systems use its product. A $316 million extension at a $5.3 billion valuation was reported in April 2026 by secondary-market data providers, without a company announcement.
Why It Matters
Abridge is the leading example of vertical AI in healthcare and a read-through for how quickly hospitals adopt AI in clinical workflows.
